In the early '60s he was a member of the artistic movement Gutai, a group founded in Japan in 1954, whose members' work expresses a fascination with the beauty that arises when things become damaged or decayed. In 2000, the Otani Museum hosted his one-man show. He lives and works in Paris and Nishinomiya, and is represented by Kaneko Art in Tokyo and Galerie Ghislian in Paris. The cover image Title Cercle 2-5-05 (100 x 81 cm, 2005), is vinyl relief and graphite pencil on canvas and Japanese paper.
